Learn to create Cyanotypes, Van Dyke prints and Salt prints in a practical course, which encourages you to explore your own artistic expression through the use of these fascinating historical techniques. Unknown to many who enjoy photography, these processes generate images of surprising depth and subtlety. From the pale detail of Fox Talbot’s salt prints and the warmth of Van Dyke browns, to the rich, intense blues of cyanotypes, each finished image will be unique.
The course will use still-life, portrait and landscape photography as the basis for creating alternative prints. You will learn how to mix formulas by hand, how to sensitize papers using brushes and how to make contact negatives, dark room-enlarged negatives and computer-generated acetate negatives to achieve an exciting end result.
